Hey hey! Today I am taking you on an unexpected date duo in RVA! A couple weeks ago we had intended on visiting Hutch. Hutch is located in Gayton Crossing and has a similar feel to Toast since they are owned by the same people! When we arrived at Hutch the bar was full ~ we love sitting at the bar ~ the hosts told us to go next door and try Mix, also the same owners…
Mix – If we were not told to go there, we would have never known it was there. It totally blended in and only had a small unassuming sign in the window. When we entered we were taken back in time… this was totally set up like a speakeasy! We loved the atmosphere and decor. The drink menus were on old vinyl record covers and the TV was playing old Vh1 popup videos. The seating is limited, only the bar, but we snagged a couple seats so we decided to enjoy dinner there. Mix is intended to be a cocktail bar serving small plates but they do offer the full Hutch menu. There is a secret door and drop box that connects the two restaurants so staff can slip back and fourth or grab the bar food.

We enjoyed some drinks, wine for me, beer for Zach. We ordered the crispy brussel sprouts for an app, they were delish! I ordered their salmon salad while Zach ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich. The food was great but the atmosphere was even better! We will definitely be back just to enjoy some cocktails! If you’re into Whiskey, this is definitely the place for you! We also loved how they have “the cheap shit” on their bar menu… beers as cheap as $2 and wine for $5.

The HofGarden – This is such a fun spot! You can add this to any date duo in Scott’s Addition. Whenever we go, we climb right up to the roof top bar. We have never hung out inside. When we go, we just grab a couple drinks and enjoy the sunset. The Hof is located in the the historic Hofheimer Building in Scott’s Addition. This place is a mix of a German beer hall, brewpub and music venue. There are three floors, the beer hall, loft and music lounge and roof top. They do sell food, they have a brick oven on the roof where you can order pizzas and other bar food like sandwiches and burgers. They do have some fun apps like the German Sampler, Cheese Plate and the Giant Soft Pretzel. They sell more than just beer, they have wine as well as cocktails so they have something for everyone! There is plenty of seating and room to move around but on a nice night, expect that it will be busy!

There you have it! Two awesome spots to check out during your date night! Here are to many more summer date duos!
Cheers, Paige
