Hey ya’ll! How have you been?! I am strugglin over here, a teacher needs a snow day and there has been NONE. To brighten up my mood, we made a last minute decision to drive to Charlottesville for an afternoon.
King Family Vineyards had recently dropped their new wine, Verde. It had been on their social media and I was dying to try so we decided to stop there first! During this visit, we actually tasted in their second tasting room. This is an area with an extra bar, seating and fire place and is right mext to their main building. We had a lovely server and tasting. Their tasting was small, 5 wines for $10. Unfortunately, they were out of a lot of reds and they weren’t even tasting the Verde. Even though I didn’t taste, I still had to go home with a bottle. I plan to open that baby up in the summer! I enjoyed all of their wines, I always do. Their Roseland was delicious and their Crose Rose was great. I sipped on some Cab Franc post tasting. It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the spectacular views. King Family is a popular spot, I always suggest visiting during the week or right when they open.

Our next winery stop was Wisdom Oak. This is one of my favorite hidden gems that we discovered this past summer. Wisdom Oak closes for a couple months in the winter and they just opened for their 2020 season so I was eager to revisit and stock up on a few favorites. Their tasting room is adorable and their wine is amazing. I have so many favorites here. Since it was a beautiful day, we sipped on some Sauv Blanc. Their 2018 Petit Manseng is out of this world but almost gone, so I am very happy I was able to snag a bottle. Jason, owner and winemaker, was kind enough to let me taste the 19 Petit Manseng that is in the tank and let me tell you what, it is AMAZING. Tropical with a hint of sweetness. I also tasted the 19 Chard and it is done in steel… my favorite! I can’t wait to go back when these are in the bottle! We had such a nice visit and always love chatting with Jason and Laura.
P.S. Isn’t Franc adorable?! If you want to visit a dog friendly winery, this is the spot to be!

I had such a nice day… I wish everyday was like a wine adventure day. Hope you all have a fabulous week! This teacher is ready for summer break, how about you?!
Cheers, Paige
