Rosemont Vineyards

Hey y’all! A couple Sundays ago we decided to visit Rosemont Vineyards! It has been on our list for ages but never made the drive down south until now. Rosemont is located in Southern Virginia near Lake Gaston. There aren’t many other wineries near so this was a one stop trip.

Rosemont opened in 2007 and is owned by the Rose family. It is located on a 450 acre estate that dates back to 1858. The actual home dates back to the mid-1700s! The estate is absolutely gorgeous; you have a beautiful view of the vineyards from the tasting room so you can sip while gazing at the vines. They have 25 acres under vine that they planted in 2003 and 2004. Rosemont produces about 6000-7000 cases of wine a year.

When you walk into the tasting room you enter their Art Gallery/Gift Shop. Rosemont supports local artisans by displaying their art work in their tasting room. Post tasting, you can sip and shop… two of my favorite things! Behind the gift shop is their beautiful bar. Their wine tasting is $10 for twelve wines. All of their wines are affordable and delicious. A few of our favorites included their Brut Sparkling, Virginia White, Virginia Red, and Kilravock. Their Brut Sparkling is amazing, it is made with Chardonel and is delish! The Virginia White is a blend of 70% Vidal Blanc and 30% Chardonel. It is crisp and clean with hints of pineapple. Virginia Red is a blend of Cab Franc, Merlot and Chambourcin. It is soft and fruit forward. The cool thing about Virginia White and Virginia Red is you can get them in a BOX! How convenient and fun! The Kilravock is Rosemont’s signature red and it is fantastic! It is a blend of Cab Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, it is so smooth and definitely age worthy!

Post tasting there is plenty of seating to enjoy a bottle and picnic. During the colder months you can sit inside where they have seating downstairs as well as upstairs. During the warmer months, they have a beautiful side patio and balcony. We enjoyed a bottle of the Brut Sparking with our picnic!

During our visit we had the pleasure of talking with their winemaker, Justin and his wife Aubrey. Justin poured us our tasting and gave us a tour. I loved learning about their winery and it was such a pleasure to do so with Justin leading the way!

I hope you make the drive down to Southern Virginia soon! This winery was such a treat and I hope y’all enjoy it as much as we did.

Cheers, Paige

P.S. They have an AMAZING wine and barrel club! If you love wine clubs, I would check this one out!
