Traveling With Wine
After traveling to several wine regions, I have learned a lot about traveling with wine. Of course shipping direct from the winery is the safest option. This option is great if the winery has shipping deals. Often times, you have to buy several bottles to make this option worth it. Typically it’s $20-$30 for 3ish bottles to Virginia from the West Coast.
I usually always ship wine home from a couple wineries, then we check an (empty) suitcase just for wine! I have used Wine Skins in the past but my new favorite brand is Liq Care because they are reusable. I have noticed that 8-9 bottles is the magic number because the luggage weighs about 45-48lbs. I also wrap a towel or sweater around the wine as well.
If you want an even nicer and safer options, there is always wine luggage.
The Good Juice

I will be writing out a whole guide of what to drink, eat, and do in Paso Robles. Until then, I compiled a quick list of wines I brought home!
Law 2017 Beguiling — This is Law’s Southern Rhone blend of Grenache and Syrah.
L’Aventure 2018 Optimus — This one was delicious with notes of jalapeño and pepper. It is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot.
Austin Hope 2019 Cabernet Franc — I am such a huge fan of Cabernet Franc and this was a delicious one — 100% Cabernet Franc.
Justin 2018 Justification — This is one of Justin’s distributed wines that you could possibly find around Virginia. This is a delicious blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. I love the green pepper notes in this wine — would pair perfect with chili.
Tooth & Nail 2018 The Possessor — This is Tooth & Nail’s flagship wine. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Sirah, and Syrah.
Daou 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon — This is Daou’s 100% Estate Cab. They use 4 different clones of Cab which rounds it out.
Union Sacre 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon — Union Sacre is an urban winery located in Tin City. This Cab is from two vineyards and is smooth and elegant.
Linne Calodo 2020 Contrarian — This is named Contrarian since it was contrary to the winemaker, Matt, to make a white wine. This is a delicious blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, and Picpoul Blanc. It is aged in concrete to bring out the wines minerality.
Linne Calodo 2018 In My Dreams — I was so impressed with Linne Calodo that we had to bring home a second bottle. This is a delicious blend of Grenache, Tempranillo, Graciano, Tannat, and Carignan.
Coming Soon
On top of that, we also ordered 3 bottles from Caraccoili Cellars, 3 bottles from Epoch, and we signed up for Tablas Creek Wine Club! Lots of delish wine is coming this Fall!
Cheers, Paige
