Hey friends! I have an amazing write up on a cool spot in Carytown, RVA. Garden Grove Brewing is a brewery and urban winery. The reason I am obsessed with this place is because they are ingredient driven, always natural, local, and organic centric. I had the pleasure of sitting down with the owner, Ryan and head brewer, Kevin to chat about their amazing business.
Garden Grove all began back in 2010 when Ryan traveled to Europe and visited local breweries. He knew it was something he could do and wanted to share amazing brews with RVA. In March of 2013 he wrote out a business plan and found a brewer. They opened their current location in Carytown in 2015.

They have a variety of beers all unique and delicious. Kevin does an amazing job playing around and experimenting with different ingredients and flavors. I am not a huge beer drinker but I enjoyed the Buy-In which is a traditional American Pilz. I can picture cracking one of these open by the pool… light and refreshing.
Since the beginning, they have added honey wine, WINE, and cider to their lineup. Since I am a LOVER of wine, I had to get the deets. In 2016, they applied for their farm winery license and partnered with Arterra Winery in Delaplane. Garden Grove launched their wine line in 2017 and make PHENOMENAL wine. I loved their Chardonnay. It was oaked but did not go through malo so it was the perfect balance of fruit and oak. Their 2016 Petit Verdot was one of my favorites, bright fruit flavors with a dry finish. Their newest wine is their Adaptation blend. It is a blend of 60% Petit Vedot and 40% Tannat. It was my love language, enough said. Their Cider was launched March of 2019 and is so refreshing. Eden was one my favorite ciders, it is made from pippin apples that are tart and dry. Their honey wine is sparkling and delicious. Rapture was my favorite, dry with bright acidity.

I highly suggest a stop at Garden Grove when quarantine is over to try all they have to offer. This is the perfect stop on your stroll through Carytown! It wouldn’t be a brewery without events either so make sure you check their website for an up to date listing!
Since we are social distancing right now, you can bring their taproom to your home. Garden Grove is open for curbside pickup and delivery! Check their Instagram and website for more information!
Let me know if you try Garden Grove. I know I will be visiting again soon! As always, make sure you subscribe to the blog and follow me on insta @sipsandtripswithpaige!
