Today I have a great winery I would love to spotlight! Recently we spent a Sunday afternoon at Gauthier and we had an absolutely fantastic time!
Gauthier Vineyard – We frequent this winery a lot! We love visiting because they have a beautiful tasting room with ample seating inside as well as outside on their wrap around covered porch. The view is lovely ~ it looks across to the vineyard with a beautiful pond. On the weekends you will likely see the owners walking around making sure your visit is the best it can be. They have an extensive wine list where you have two options to select from for tasting. The classic tasting is $10 for the whites and reds. Their second option is $12 for the whites, reds, ports, and sparkling. Onsite they have 3 acres of Estate Grown Norton. They also source grapes and lease vines in the foothills overlooking the Shenandoah Valley at Cave Ridge Vineyard. This is a very dog friendly winery and you’ll likely see the owners dog wandering around. They are open Fri-Sun with extended hours on Friday until eight. This would be the perfect spot on a cool night as well since they have a huge fire pit!

They have a wood fire oven on their outdoor patio and on Friday nights they have wood-fired, outdoor oven baked pizzas! On Sundays they often have other foods available from their wood fired oven. Once a month they have Winter Haven Oysters come in, we decided to share some oysters on this day and they were divine. The best oysters we have ever eaten! As far as wine, we really enjoy their Reisling, Stainless Viognier, and their Brick House Red. Their Reisling has a mango aroma and paired really well with the oysters. Their Stainless Viognier was very tropical and had a full bodied feel. Their Brick House Red was a blend of Cab Franc, Petit Verdot, Cab Sauv and Chambourcin ~ it was delicious!

**Sips and Trips Tip – Gauthier Vineyard is ten minutes from Saude Creek! I suggest paring this winery up for a fun afternoon!
There you have it, another beautiful winery that we love to enjoy! I hope you get to enjoy this spot soon!
Cheers, Paige
