It has been a dream to live in Richmond. I am from Pennsylvania and I knew finding a teaching job would be difficult. I wanted to keep my options open and I was willing to move to find a job. As fate would allow, I ended up scoring a teaching position near Richmond. I am so blessed it led me to this amazing state and city.
One thing my husband and I enjoy are Friday night date nights. We love hitting up a winery or happy hour then having dinner at a local joint. It is a way for us to decompress after a long week. We set our phones aside and just chat about the week. I would like to feature our favorite dates and spots around Richmond. Every week I plan on highlighting two of our favorite spots:)
Toast
Toast has been one of our favorites for the longest. We love happy hours that extend until 7PM. Zach doesn’t get off of work until 5:30 so by the time we get to our spot it’s usually 6. I love how they have wine on tap and the $4 price during happy hour can’t be beat! Zach and I usually split an appetizer. Our favorites are the bacon brussels and the shrimp and crab nachos. I love so many entree salads and meals. I am a meatloaf lover so I love the meal as well as the sandwich. Do yourself a favor and get the parmesan truffle fries.
Shyndigz
It is by far our favorite dessert spot in RVA. Any celebration or random Thursday calls for Shyndigz. It is essentially a dessert bar. They have a rotating menu and an amazing selection of beer, wine (JRC wine too!) and specialty cocktails. I typically get their boozy coffee since it pairs so well with cake!
